Question

Gravid water dragon

I have a chinese water dragon arount 20 months old she has just had a clutch of 7 eggs( over 2 days) She is healthy it seems apart from not eating this problem we have taken her to the vets 3 times over 2 months and the last time it was suggested she may be gravid. It appears to have been the problem , I now would like to know how many eggs would be average for a gravid dragon and will this happen again around the same time next year so that i can prepare for it.

Hi SimplyOz,

Thanks for the message, my females also a tad gravid also, she inflates and deflates  constantly, i thnk her last clutch was 7 eggs, though previously she had laid 12eggs. she has periods where she wont eat for days, then other days she doesnt stop munching..

have you tried changing the food ? my male will eat anything, but the female is a fussy pain in the butt, she normally only eats only crickets, but sometimes she wont touch them and she wants hoppers.

this sites probably the best for water dragons, though its fairly out of date, (1995) but tricia is still active on many other forums if you can get hold of her shes the best dragon expert i always try to check things with.

1 question on the vet you goto, are they a reptile specialist ? normal vets can help with odd infections but anything that your worried about ALWAYS goto a specialist, if you can let me know where you live i can have a word with my specialist and see if they can find a specialist near you.

my nearest specialist is almost 40 miles away but shes worth every penny.
