Corn snakes
The corn snake is a great reptile for beginners, intermediates and experts.
There are many morphs of corn snake ranging from snow to blood red, albino to Carolina and many, many more.
HOUSING
If you start with a hatchling/baby it is best if you keep them in a 5 gallon faunarium (10x5 in plastic tank). When your corn snake is a sub adult you can move it into a bigger faunarium (about 20x10 in) TIP: when your corn snake is a hatchling-sub adult use kitchen paper as a 'substrate' it is better for their scales. When your corn snake reaches adulthood you should move it into a large vivarium with a medium wattage light bulb. Add plastic plants, a granite water bowl to bath and a small clay water bowl to drink from, granite and plastic hides, if possible add soil and a live plant, some rocks and stones, branches, dry leaves, a fake hill, use dry wood chip substrate and have kitchen paper under every hide and you should have a very happy corn snake. REMEMBER to always have a heat mat how ever old your corn snake is but leave it half covering the bottom and always put the water bowl(s) on the cold side.
FEEDING
The only thing corn snakes will eat is defrosted mice and rats.
When your corn snake is a hatchling/baby it will eat pinky mice a.k.a prematures or minis they are very tiny unborn mice... Boil some water let it cool down for a minute or two drop the pinky in a cup and pore in the water. Pinch the pinkies nose with your snake feeding tongs to release smell. Dangle it over the corn snake and he or she will hopefully strike, grab and swallow the pinky hole. When your corn snake is a sub adult you should feed them fuzzies or fluffs (baby mice)... Same as above
Adults-fully grown mice or young rats... Same as above.
PLAYING, BONDING and HANDLING.
Corn snakes have a very good temperament and are very friendly but only if you handle them daily and treat them kindly and most of all have love towards them. My corn snakes sleep on my lap, sleep on my bed are not head shy and love to be tickled under their chin but this is only because I handle them more then once a day and love them very much it will be the same case with your corn snake if you treat them as said above.
Thank you for reading this care sheet, I hope you found it helpful and i will be making more on other animals.
